The new turnerclasses.com

In just a few minutes, www.turnerclasses.com will redirect itself to an upgraded website.  Several features have changed, including a modernized appearance and a new front page dynamic display of the current sky overhead.  I plan to add more content over the next few weeks.

Some important changes for current subscribers:

Your account has been moved into the new system, however, your password has been reset to Astronomy-1.  The new system demands better security (not that I feel we need this), so the old "astronomy" default password is no longer acceptable.  You can change your password at any time after logging in.

Access to past sessions of the Astronomy course has been compacted into one master course, marked "Prior sessions".  The presentations in that section are the most recent versions of the course material.  I have also included all of the "news" presentations from the past 3 or 4 years, in a separate section within that prior session course, as well as all of the "observation" lectures.  Some of this material will therefore be new to folks from the earlier sessions.

Current students can access the Spring, 2014 class. All of the content has been moved into that session (even the charts for the final class).

Unfortunately, all of the previous Forums in the classes, as well as the main Site News forum did not transfer, and we are starting from scratch in these forums.  There wasn't really much in there anyway.

For both former and current students, I hope to make the site a bit more useful in the near future to retain your interest.  I plan on uploading the various "other" material that I have used in class - software, small projects you can do at home - as well as increasing the frequency with which I post general news to the list (don't worry, spam-lovers, it will never be more than once a week!).

Please check out the new site, and tell me if you either run into problems (logging in, for example), or have ideas as to how to make this site more useful to you, particularly as ex-students.

Thanks for all of your support throughout these 7 years.  It has been a blast, and will continue to be a great outlet for me into the future!
